About Us

Lic engineering is the one of world leading providers of innovative CO2, Capacitor Charging & Laser Diode power supplies.

Our specialties are for the most compact/high power water-cooled switch-mode power supplies and high speed , high current & high voltage & high power semiconductor laser power supplies.

Super Pulse and Ballastless technologies are the original development by a Lic engineer in the early 1980s for the CO2 surgical laser systems.  Super Pulse and Ballastless are accomplished by the combination of a secondary H.V multiplier and the negative impedance of CO2 laser tube, which is driven by the primary high current/fast switching pulse circuit.  The compressed secondary energy driven by the strong primary switching is rapidly released by breakdown of negative impedance of the laser tube, resulting in the narrow high peak laser power outputted.  The high frequency Ballastless power supplies designed by our engineer replaced all the bulky H.V X-former, expensive vacuum tube, and H.V ballast resisters used for the traditional power supplies in those age.

Since the first product was developed in early 1980s, our CO2 laser power supply has used a "series resonant topology" to push  high currents into the secondary circuit in very short time.  This enabled our products to achieve the high peak current of Super Pulse, which is capable of 10 times higher peak laser power to CW in Pulse mode.

In 1986, Inoue founded Lic engineering (formerly Laser Innovations Corp.) in Sunnyvale, CA to manufacture and market these new technologies.
In the early 1990s, Lic engineering introduced its first
flat type water-cooled CO2 laser power supply, the CSF-series.  In the mid-'90s, the company introduced the cost effective 600W/1KW CPF-series CO2 laser power supplies and the highest power of 25KW & 50KW for CSF-series.  These CSF- & CPF series are the most popular and long run products among our product line.

Since the company introduced the first water-cooled power supply in the late-'80s, they continued to manufacture their unique water-cooled CO2/Yag/Capacitor charging laser power supplies.

In 2005, Lic engineering introduced its first high peak current, fast rise time, and high speed laser diode Drivers/power supplies, LD-1500/3000, LDC-120/250 and LSP-500 ,which are capable of Super Pulse and LSP (Lic Super Pulse).  Unique hybrid IC technology employed by Lic engineering made a breakthrough for fast rise time, high peak current and high voltage laser diode drivers.

Through over 24 years of investment in research and development, Lic engineering has become an innovator--not only in product design--but in manufacturing processes as well. The result is the world's most compact, light-weight, and reliable CO2 laser power supplies as well as high power, high current, and high speed LD-Drivers/Pulse Generators.
